Wry MCs
and the books i've been enjoying
Lately I’ve been enjoying books with wry MCs, especially female characters with dry, almost sardonic personalities.
One of my current favorites is Honey by Imani Thompson. Perfect blend of academia, dry voice (in a good way), and a touch of revenge. Get a copy here: https://bookshop.org/a/124622/9780593979761
I also enjoyed Discipline by Larissa Pham. A touch of depression, abuse, the arts world, academia, and, again, revenge (though not in the way you might think). Get a copy here: https://bookshop.org/a/124622/9780593979648
Right now, I’ve started Discontent by Beatriz Serrano and really enjoying the wryness of the corporate world, which I think many of us can relate to. The endless video meetings, the recycled litany of catchphrases and corporate-speak, and the drudgery of selling your time for a paycheck. https://bookshop.org/a/124622/9798217006762
